Blended Federal Highway Administration / ADNET Systems MMS is a management tool that uses technology to provide support to an agency’s business processes. It integrates business processes, new technologies and systems to make and support management decisions. Currently offering an instructor-led (ILT) course, the client wanted to reach a larger dispersed target audience of State and local maintenance engineers, maintenance supervisors, asset managers, and industry counterparts. After completing high-level and detailed instructional designs, we developed a blended Web conferencing and interactive Web-based self-study (WCT and WBT) course. The adapted material changed from standard slide presentation to an interactive e-book approach using PowerPoint, Adobe Breeze Meeting and Breeze Presentation. We extended the course interactivity by creating a series of Flash tools to enhance the built-in Breeze functions.
The Associated General Contractors of America AGC, a leader in the construction trade industry asked ISDS to develop an interactive program based on one of their books. Within this organization were five distinct audiences. Incorporating video, audio interviews, and photographs submitted by their members, we created a structure that would address unique audience needs and commonalities. The end result was a multimedia CD-ROM with links to the Web complete with games, an e-book, assessments, and useful performance support tools. A facilitator’s guide was created enabling the materials to be taught in a blended fashion, as a workshop, semester-long college level course, and as a distance education program.
