We have worked in many different media, including performance support systems, mentored groups, role plays, etc. After deliberation we categorized our portfolio into the web-based training, blended learning, multimedia, and workshops because these seem to be areas of biggest demand from our clients. If you need a different type of learning give us a call--we love interesting challenges!

Web-based training refers to training delivered through the Internet and is self-paced. If done well, it has all of the elements of other formal learning approaches, including learning objectives, knowledge, interaction, Q&A, evaluation, etc. We differentiate this from Web Conference Training (WCT) which is real-time with an intructor and even other classmates. We have included an sample of WCT in our Blended section.

This is our favorite approach. Put it all together, mixing different learning and teaching approaches to accomplish objectives. For example, a course may ask for self-study learning from a workbook, the Web, video conferencing, online testing, and then involve online and phone support from a facilitator.

Multimedia means different things to different people. Typcially it features higher bandwidth graphics, animation, audio, and/or video. We use it to describe participant learning through training programs on a computer. The programs also may allow learners to access the Web. These programs may be self-contained on CDs or DVDs.

Wikipedia describes learning workshops as "...instructor or facilitator-led training sessions which may be one or several days in length. They emphasize problem-solving, hands-on training, and require the involvement of the participants."
